The course examines factors contributing to ethical misconduct, including rationalization, organizational culture, bullying, retaliation, and failures of accountability. Participants will learn a practical ethical decision-making model, discuss the duty to intervene and report misconduct, and evaluate the responsibilities of employees, supervisors, and leaders in fostering a healthy and accountable workplace culture. Emphasis is placed on truthfulness in reports, investigations, testimony, and professional interactions, while reinforcing the importance of courageous leadership, personal accountability, and ethical decision-making in probation operations. Through realistic probation-based scenarios, students will apply course concepts to situations involving workplace culture, integrity, reporting obligations, supervisory accountability, and professional responsibility.
