This course prepares probation professionals to safely and effectively supervise gang-involved individuals by examining California gang culture, prison and street gang dynamics, officer safety, and lawful supervision practices. Participants learn to recognize gang indicators, distinguish objective observations from inference, apply California Penal Code §186.22, and develop accurate, defensible documentation. Through case studies, scenario-based exercises, group discussions, and practical application, students strengthen decision-making, professional communication, interagency collaboration, and evidence-based supervision strategies to enhance officer safety and improve outcomes when supervising gang-involved probationers.
