Phil Carlson is a leadership, safety, and security expert. A decorated law enforcement veteran of over 30 years, Phil has held leadership positions with the United States Department of Homeland Security and is currently the Director of Global Security for a multi- billion-dollar, international company operating in over 90 countries.
Phil’s law enforcement career started in Cromwell, CT but he also held roles with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in the central Florida area. Phil has always had a passion or training. After the events of 9/11, Phil was recruited by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, the nation’s largest law enforcement training academy, where he ultimately became the Lead Senior Instructor over the Law Enforcement Control Tactics Instructor Training Program, considered the premier control tactics course in the country. Phil has proudly trained thousands of officers and federal agents from over 90 federal agencies across the country.
Phil transitioned to the corporate security world where he became the Director of Global Corporate Security and Executive Protection (EP) for a global telecom and energy company operating in over 40 countries. He built the EP program from the ground up for the 4 executives running the company. Phil kept his hand in law enforcement training, through his own training company and as an adjunct instructor for the U.S. Department of Justice VALOR Officer Safety Training Programs, where he became a lead instructor and coordinator. Phil is the CEO and owner of “Paralysis 2 Purpose, LLC”, where he brings his unique leadership experience, as well as his own personal experience with a life altering injury, to challenge audiences to change their attitudes towards safety and to pay attention to what matters most at work and in life.
