Tina Buneta is a veteran public safety leader with more than 26 years of executive and organizational management experience across urban, rural, state, and municipal environments. She currently serves as Director of Aurora911 in Colorado, where she leads a large, complex communications organization supporting police, fire, EMS, and mobile crisis partners. In this role, she is responsible for multi-unit operations, multimillion-dollar budgets, and strategic initiatives that impact service delivery across an entire citywide public safety system.

 

Tina is widely recognized for her expertise in workforce engagement and retention, organizational culture and change, leadership development, and process optimization in government and public safety settings. She has held multiple regional management roles with the Colorado State Patrol, led multi-county operations, and contributed to agency-wide strategic planning and modernization efforts. At the national and state levels, she serves on the National 911 Program’s Training Requirements Task Force, Colorado’s 9-1-1 Advisory Task Force, APCO’s Staffing Taskforce (Co-Chair), APCO’s Occupational Analysis Subcommittee, and the Community College of Denver Criminal Justice Advisory Board, where she helps shape policy, standards, and leadership practices across the profession.

 

A sought-after instructor, consultant, and strategist, Tina holds professional certifications as an Emergency Number Professional (ENP), Certified Public Safety Executive (CPE), Registered Public Safety Leader (RPL), and Gallup Global CliftonStrengths Coach. She is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and FBI-LEEDA’s Leadership Trilogy, and her leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including APCO International Director of the Year, Colorado NENA-APCO Director of the Year, and recognition in the U.S. Congressional Record. Across all her work, Tina is dedicated to building resilient, high-performing teams and developing practical, values-based leadership frameworks that strengthen public safety organizations at every level.
