Front Line Leadership I for Law Enforcement

Front Line Leadership I*

Front Line Leadership I is a 3-day course designed to equip public safety personnel with contemporary leadership principles and concepts essential for those transitioning into or currently holding supervisory roles. As public safety demands continue to grow, effective leadership has become more critical than ever for organizational success. This course specifically addresses the challenges of moving from a peer to a supervisor, often referred to as “going from buddy to boss.” Through a deep dive into the fundamentals of leadership and management, participants will gain valuable skills that ease this transition, setting them up for success in their leadership journey.

This comprehensive training program covers a wide range of topics that are crucial for effective leadership in the public safety sector. Students will explore professionalism, organizational culture, and management, as well as the dynamics of effective teams, conflict resolution, motivation, and systems-thinking. They will also develop key problem-solving skills and learn to apply leadership principles specific to the challenges of public safety organizations. Upon completion, participants will not only enhance their leadership capabilities but also gain a broader understanding of the law enforcement profession, the diverse personalities within it, and how to build stronger, more effective teams.

Topics will include:
– Transitioning to Leadership
– Professionalism & Organizational Culture
– Team Leadership, Communication & Conflict Resolution
– Motivation & Managing People
– Problem-Solving & Systems Thinking
