Terrance Burton brings nearly two decades of progressive experience in corrections, supervision, and training, developed through an accomplished career with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. He has served in key leadership capacities across multiple divisions, including custody operations, patrol operations, internal affairs, and emergency management. Terrance has worked as a Watch Commander within a direct supervision jail facility, overseeing complex operations and mentoring diverse teams of sworn and civilian personnel. His experience in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as the Planning and Intelligence Deputy Planning Section Chief further highlights his ability to lead under pressure and coordinate large-scale responses with precision and professionalism.
Terrance’s passion for developing others is reflected in his extensive training background. He has led the Custody Special Assistant (CSA) Academy and Deputy Sheriff Trainee (DST) Pre-Academy, preparing recruits and staff for the demands of a modern correctional environment. His expertise spans specialized assignments such as Custody Intelligence, Jail Compliance & Training (JCATT), Internal Affairs, and Patrol Operations, where he’s consistently driven improvements in accountability, performance, and readiness. A respected instructor and curriculum developer, Terrance has collaborated with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), and Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) to deliver innovative, high-impact training programs that meet and exceed professional standards.
