This two-day advanced course provides law enforcement professionals with a practical framework for recognizing, assessing, investigating, and mitigating behavioral threats before they become acts of targeted violence.
Participants will explore the Pathway to Violence, warning behaviors, Structured Professional Judgment (SPJ) tools, protective intelligence investigations, threat mitigation, and behavioral assessment applications within dignitary protection operations.
Through case studies, research, scenario-based exercises, and real-world operational examples, students will learn to connect behavioral indicators and investigative intelligence to proactive protective strategies.

This course is led by two former United States Secret Service agents whose careers span more than five decades of federal protective operations and threat assessment. Kevin Rice (pictured right) served 23 years with the Secret Service, retiring as Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Office, and went on to develop one of the nation’s first college-level behavioral threat assessment courses. Jack Leskovar (pictured left) served 31 years with the Secret Service, specializing in protective intelligence, counter-surveillance, physical security, and threat assessment. Together they bring the operational insight, investigative depth, and real-world protective experience that define this program.
